Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering

Civil engineers design and oversee the building of most of the major public works. Some examples of these can be:

  • Roads
  • Bridges
  • Dams
  • Tunnels
  • Buildings
  • Airports
  • Water and sewage systems

Civil engineering is one of the broadest types of engineering, going back all the way to the design of pyramids of Egypt. Civil engineers also do more than just buildings and infrastructure, they can even be found in the space industry, in the designing of planes, to even the automotive industry and the ship building industry. With civil engineering your choices are basically endless, it all depends on what field interests you the most.

To become registered as a civil engineer, you will need a four-year degree in civil engineering. Luckily for you North Dakota State University, University of North Dakota, and the University of Mary all have a civil engineering program. Its important that this program is ABET accredited, both NDSU and UNDs programs are ABET accredited.
