Industrial and Systems Engineers design systems to help reduce the wastefulness in production. They create systems that connect workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to make products.
Some of the duties for an Industrial and Systems Engineer are typically:
- Figure out how to manufacture parts or products or deliver services most efficiently.
- Develop management systems to make financial planning and cost analysis more efficient.
- Enact quality control procedures to resolve production problems and minimize costs.
- Design systems to coordinate activities and production planning to make sure products meet quality standards.
Industrial and System Engineers apply their skills to many different situations. Some systems the design for example are:
- Moving heavy parts in manufacturing plants
- Delivering goods to customers from a company
- Job performance evaluating
Industrial and Systems Engineers need a bachelor’s degree, typically in Industrial Engineering. Many Industrial engineers have degrees in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering technology or general engineering.
